“Complexity Science” is a generic term which refers to a wide variety of scientific research in a number of different disciplines including biology, physics, mathematics and economics. The Santa Fe Institute in Santa Fe, New Mexico has become famous as a focal point for this research. While the objectives and research activities in the field are varied, a common theme is the study of “complex adaptive systems” as they appear in nature, and the discovery and cataloging of the fundamental laws of the systems.
